Indian Rupee Slumps to 61.66 vs. US Dollar

rupeeNew Delhi, Monday, January 20 – On January 20, the Indian currency plunged by 12 paise to 61.66 in opposition to the currency of United States during the early hours trading today at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market by reason of demand for the dollar from importers.

Pressure on the Indian currency was also kept by a down opening of the domestic equity market in addition to augments of the greenback in opposition to further currencies in a foreign country, Forex traders stated.

In the trade of January 17, the rupee had lost one paise to 61.54 in opposition to the greenback.
