jbNew Delhi, Tuesday, October 25 – Misbah-ul-Haq eye another win against West Indies. His squad has gained ground in the contest by doing their bit. With Sami Aslam, Mohammad Nawaz, Azhar Ali, Younis Khan, Sarfraz Ahmed, Asad Shafiq, Yasir Shah, Rahat Ali, Zulfiqar Babar and Sohail Khan in the team, Pakistan scored 452 runs in their first innings and declared second innings at 227 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in 67 overs.

Sami Aslam attained a wonderful fifty before losing wicket to Shannon Gabriel. Five boundaries were highlights of his play. Azhar Ali played a knock of 79 runs off 137 balls. His innings also consisted of five 4s. Shafiq and Khan were not out at 58 runs and 29 runs, respectively. 11 extras were bowled by West Indies bowlers. The team chasing the target would need to get momentum in batting. so far in their second innings, they have scored 187 runs in 72 overs, losing five wickets. Kraigg Brathwaite was lbw by Mohammad Nawaz at 67 runs (4 x 6 and 4 x 1).  Leon Johnson was the first man to lose his wicket yesterday to Yasir Shah at a score of 9 (4 x 1).

Poor start continued given that Darren Bravo succumbed to Rahat Ali post scoring 13 runs in 34 balls (4 x 1). It was required by the top order batsmen to spend some time on the crease and let opponents strive for wickets. Marlon Samuels gave some support to the opener, Brathwaite. But an excellent work by Yasir Shah in his own over ended stint of Samuels. Jermaine Blackwood is still on the crease with Shai Hope. Roston Chase faced 86 deliveries and scored 20 runs, together with four 4s. Yasir Shah showed him the way to pavilion, shifting pressure again on the West Indies cricket team. Viewers at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi want Holder-led side to show some resistance and not give up easily, particularly at a time when they have the opportunity to draw the match. After 82 overs, they have scored 239 runs.

Five batsmen are back to the dressing room. Holder, Devendra Bishoo, Miguel Cummins and Gabriel are yet to bat. 217 runs are yet required to win the match. Target is attainable but since half of the West Indies team has been dismissed, wiser is the option to not lose any more wickets further. Blackwood is slowly nearing towards pocketing a ton. Patience at this stage can help him attain the one in tough situation. Pakistan look forward to remaining five wickets as this will enable them defeat the rivals for another time. Discipline of Pakistan bowling can be understood by the fact that only one extra has been bowled till now. This proves that Sohail Khan, Rahat Ali, Yasir Shah, Zulfiqar Babar and Mohammad Nawaz are bowling in good line and length.

Pakistan have won both T20 and ODI series. A win today will let them seal Test series too even though one Test match yet remains to be played. West Indies do not want to be shifted on the back foot as the ongoing Test is a do or die situation for them post losing the opening one by 56 runs at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. Expectations of the West Indies fans have increased by now. However, they are concerned that they might miss attaining win in an important match since not so many wickets remain in hand. If they manage to stand strong today, the final Test at Sharjah Cricket Association Stadium in Sharjah, starting October 30 will turn decisive. The players who are yet to bat need to be in good form and not let the opportunity of ending the match in a draw slip away easily.
