zimNew Delhi, Friday, September 25 – After a couple of days, the tournament between Zimbabwe and Pakistan will kick off. They are to contend in T20 and ODI matches, which will take place between September 27 and October 5. Despite the fact that Pakistan are on tour of Zimbabwe for a short time but challenges are going to be huge.

Undoubtedly, the guests are stronger than the host but the lessons what they learnt a few months ago thanks to 3-0 defeat at the hands of Bangladesh will enable them have their feet on ground and make strategies game by game. Pakistan supporters will look forward to the first match between their team and Zimbabwe in the T20 tournament, which is to be held at Harare Sports Club in Harare.

The chances of witnessing unexpected rise and fall of the teams as a unit go up due to the format. More to the point, cricket being an unpredictable sport, audiences are always set to see colossal sixes and classy boundaries from cricketers, whether young or experienced. Pakistan look better on paper as compared to the rivals but they can’t forget challengers have the ability to bounce back at any point of time.

Viewers eye how players of both teams actually perform when given opportunity to be a part of playing XI. Role of leading wicket-takers will be important to restrict opponents at a total which can be attained while chasing the target. If bowlers are shown horrendous time by the batsmen through great striking abilities, job of winning will automatically be shifted on the shoulders of batting lineup. If truth be told then a team wins when efforts  are poured from each player.  The tournament will turn exciting if both squads perform to the best of their abilities.

As of now, the groups gear up for the contest which is to begin soon, no wonder if victories from high margin or by an inch are logged. Pakistan were in great form of recently as they thrashed Sri Lanka in both T20 and the ODI series. The group will be keen to carry on their winning streak during their Zimbabwe tour, where 2 T20s and 3 ODI matches are to be played during late September and early October.

However, probability to witness some unexpected show from Zimbabwe can’t be nullified. They may make the audience see unexpected results on more than a few occasions, taking them by surprise completely. Since Pakistan and Zimbabwe are to battle with bat and ball soon, organizers make sure that all arrangements are done perfectly fine so that people can have fun while watching the match live.

Pakistan 20-20 team will be led by Shahid Afridi. Ahmed Shehzad, Mukhtar Ahmed, Umar Akmal, Sohaib Maqsood, Shoaib Malik, Mohammed Hafeez, Mohammad Irfan, Bilal Asif, Wahab Riaz, Aamer Yamin, Mohammad Rizwan, Imran Khan Jr, Imad Wasim and Sohail Tanvir have been picked perform in the shortest format. Some changes in Pakistan ODI team, which includes captain Azhar Ali, Ahmed Shehzad, Sohaib Maqsood, Mohammad Hafeez, Shoaib Malik, Asad Shafiq, Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Imad Wasim, Anwar Ali, Wahab Riaz, Yasir Shah, Rahat Ali, Mohammad Irfan and wicketkeeper batsman Sarfraz Ahmed, make the combinations of bowlers, all-rounders and batsmen look perfect.

On the other hand, Elton Chigumbura’s men will try to do their bit as much as possible. Zimbabwe squad will include Chamu Chibhabha, Graeme Cremer, Craig Ervine, Luke Jongwe, Neville Madziva, Sikandar Raza, Hamilton Masakadza, Chris Mpofu, Richmond Mutumbami, Taurai Muzarabani, Prosper Utseya, Malcolm Waller, Sean Williams, John Nyumbu and Tinashe Panyangara. Most of these boys have outshined in the past and why to get surprised if they repeat the same once again!

Moreover, the pressure on Zimbabwe will be huge as they are to play in the familiar conditions and in front of home crowd. Given that a little time remains for the event to start, both teams focus on spending time in net practice. Here is mention that in all matches played so far between the two teams, Pakistan emerged as a victor whether it was a match in ICC Cricket World Cup or tournament when Zimbabwe toured Pakistan to play a couple of T20s and 3 ODIs. It will be interesting to notice hard work of which playing XI pays off at the end.
