Film Industry Pays Homage to the Legendry Singer

Manna DeyOctober 25 – Last rites and rituals of veteran singer, Manna Dey, were done yesterday in Bangalore. With the teary eyes, family, friends and fans mourned the death of the man with a golden voice. However, they knew within their hearts that whatever he achieved in life and he contributed to the film industry will be mesmerized by several generations to come.

Talk about Aye Mere Pyare Watan, Zindagi Kaisi Hai Paheli, Laga Chunari Mein Daag, Ae Meri Zohra Jabeen, Jhanak Jhanak Tore Baje Payalia, Dil Ki Girah, Pucho Na Kaise Maine Rain Bitai or Kasame Vaade Pyar, the emotions poured by him are just immaculate. The voice he was blessed with will be remembered for many years to come. He was a man not only with a golden voice but with a golden heart too.

He sang more than 3500 songs in his career that are mind and soul refreshing. His demise has shocked Bollywood stars. Moushumi Chatterjee, Singer Usha Uthup, Raja Murad, Suresh Oberoy, Madhur Bhandarkar, Amitabh Bachchan, Lata Mangeshkar, Moon Moon Sen and many others paid their tributes via news channels and through social networking websites.

People from politics like Mamata Banerjee, Manish Tewari also paid homage to the singer. Manna Dey, who left for heavenly abode at the age of 94 due to respiratory and renal troubles in Bangalore early on Thursday morning, received Lifetime Achievement award by the Government of Maharashtra in the year 2005 for his unmatched contributions in singing. He was awarded with Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri also.
