Rain during 4th ODI brings disappointment for viewers

rainRanchi, October 24 – Rain on Wednesday brought disappointment for hundreds of thousands of viewers who were present in the stadium to enjoy a healthy contest with bat and ball between the two teams – India and Australia. Batting first, Aussies put 295 runs on the board, giving a challenging score in front of the opponent team.

Bailey (98) and G Maxwell (92) played good innings, hitting good shots in various corners of the ground, however, Vinay Kumar gave a halt to their batting by taking wickets of both the two, who could have been dangerous for India if stayed as ‘not out’ for another few overs.

Rain stopped play as soon as India came for batting. The game of just 4.1 overs was played wherein talented Rohit Sharma scored 9 runs and Shikhar Dhawan made 14 runs. The total score put by the home team was 27 runs with no loss of wickets.

Even though no end result came out in Ranchi, yet Indian skipper M S Dhoni must be contented with the performances of his bowlers who bowled excellently well, especially in starting 15 overs. M Shami stood a bit ahead of his fellow bowlers – Vinay Kumar, R Ashwin, Unadkat, R Jadeja, Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina – by taking 3 wickets in 8 overs.

Apart from audience sitting in the stadium, sport lovers at home were also left disappointed who were enthusiastically waiting for good show from Indian batsman. Now all eyes are on 5th ODI between these two teams that is scheduled to be played on Saturday, October 26, in Cuttack. However, possibility of rain remains there too.
