ishantNew Delhi, Friday, December 16 –The stage is set for a big show today. India and England are ready for the last Test, which is hosted at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The city recently faced devastating cyclone and it was not easy to think of hosting a match where safety of each player and people associated with the teams is important.

Words of praise go to the ground staff as the job of making pitch and field conditions ideal to successfully organize the match was monumental. Grounds men used coals to dry the pitch with all possible care to not let its mood change. A slightly wet outfield could be a problem. Some grass on the track may help fast bowlers but at the same time it shall be understood that that might not trouble the batting side to an extent as expected. A little bit of turn is supposed to surprise the batsmen.

Liam Dawson has marked Test debut. The young player got the England Test cap from Victor James Marks, the former England batsman who played six Tests and 34 One Day Internationals for his country. England squad looks forward to attaining what they haven’t so far in the Test that starts today. Alastair Cook will hope Keaton Jennings, Joe Root, Moeen Ali, Ben Stokes, Jonny Bairstow, Jos Buttler, Adil Rashid, Stuart Broad, Liam Dawson and Jake Ball prove their worth. The players in extra are Chris Woakes, Gary Ballance, Gareth Batty, Ben Duckett, Steven Finn and Zafar Ansari.

Expectations are up from Broad who had to undergo a rigorous fitness Test. Since he is fit, England would hope for great show from him. India Playing XI is captained by Virat Kohli. Ishant Sharma is finally back in the game. Murali Vijay, Lokesh Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, Parthiv Patel , Ravichandran Ashwin, Karun Nair, Ravindra Jadeja, Amit Mishra and Umesh Yadav are also in the squad. Those to sit on bench are Shardul Thakur, Manish Pandey, Jayant Yadav and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Ishant Sharma, who has played 73 Test matches and got 209 Test wickets, will look to trouble the opponents with his bowling pace.

India started with two slip and a gully as Umesh Yadav bowled the first over. Miss fielding made England opener Cook go for two runs, letting himself stand in the group of players who touched the mark of 11000 runs in the longest format. Sachin Tendulkar tops the group with most Test runs. Black bands are being worn by players of both sides due to the death of CM Jayalalithaa. Silence of a minute was also observed in her remembrance before the match began today.
