cookviratNew Delhi, Wednesday, December 14 – The correct approach to play the Test matches by India added to the interest among cricket fans who gathered at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai to watch an interesting play between India and England. The Indian cricketers demonstrated wonderful play, making best use of talent and experience. Learning at different stages is useful to show development in all regards. Virat Kohli – the man who strives to deliver his best – also showed maturity while guiding his men.

He marked an impressive appearance with the double century, which added another feather in his cap. Indian bowling lineup undoubtedly exploited their ability to give England quick jolts from which the visiting squad could never recover. The cricketers of the home squad put forward positive play on the field, letting the rivals bear the brunt. The fourth Test began from December 8. The crowd arrived in the stadium in good numbers, making many get confused as whether a 50-50 or 20-20 over match is in progress. England and India were all set to contend in 4th Test match. England tour of India has so far been not so memorable despite starting the journey on a good note. However, back to back wins by the hosts thanks to amazing performance as a unit has made them think to give all their best to end Test series by being on the victorious side.

Indian youngsters shone at their best. It was not that India won the toss and made any decision. In fact, England invited them to bowl first as objective was to score finely. They did well in their first innings but could not confine their opponents from getting much runs while they came to bat, resulting in a mammoth total of 631 runs in response to England’s 400 runs. These much accumulation of score turned sufficient for Kohli’s squad, which had Murali Vijay, Lokesh Rahul, Karun Nair, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ravichandran Ashwin, Parthiv Patel, Jayant Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umesh Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja. England squad had Alastair Cook, James Anderson, Keaton Jennings, Joe Root, Moeen Ali, Ben Stokes, Jonny Bairstow, Jos Buttler, Chris Woakes, Adil Rashid and Jake Ball. But these players could not help their side gain foothold at all in their second innings.

India Playing XI may look for some exhibition of talent from the players in extras for Mumbai Test in the next game. Mohammed Shami, Manish Pandey, Shardul Thakur and Amit Mishra might find the opportunity to excel in the final Test. If positives of the previous matches are to be highlighted then as like always, the viewers were hopeful to witness a better performance from the Men in Blue in the encounter against the English cricketers, who are tough contenders. If truth be told then the Indian bowlers enjoyed bowling to the touring side as the track suited them. Delivering spin got rewards for some, especially Ashwin, who took a total of 12 wickets in both innings. When England came to bat for a second time with objective to get past the total by India, fall of wicket was observed early as the opener Keaton Jennings could not succeed to showcase the same excellent show what he did previously, scoring 112 runs brilliantly while trying to prove why his selection in the squad is going to be fruitful. Credit of excellent show must be given to India, who excelled in all departments of cricket, leaving England in a state of surprise.

Playing XI of India were ready for the challenge, which was to shine in all possible condition and stay confident no matter how strong or weak the opponents are. Despite losing the toss, they did well. Thanks to early dismissal of England in their second innings, Indian team was able to not let many stay on the crease for long. Even though England were not in a mood to give up at all, the hosts never allowed them see any opportunity of bouncing back in the game. Jonny Bairstow was the man to pocket a fifty and help stabilize wobbly innings of England. He played an important innings alike Joe Root, who scored 77 runs in 112 deliveries, including 11 4s. However, England could not stand in front of India after Bairstow was out when Ashwin delivered a ball of 50th over. Quickly falling wickets once again cleared the picture that the touring side is to suffer batting collapse for another time, with insufficient contribution from the tail-ender batsman.

Since the lower order batsmen easily succumbed in the start of play, India enjoyed a memorable win – the fifth series win in a row under the captaincy of Virat Kohli. 195 runs were not sufficient at all to stop India getting another victory in the ongoing tournament. The batsmen of England squad could not hit hard on the bowling attack of India for runs as a result of good line and length by the spinners. When it was the question of setting a good target, England were never at ease from the beginning but nobody thought picture will be like this in the end. With some spellbinding performances from Kohli-led side from Test one to Test four, the audience is curious to see whether the Indian side with go with the options available on bench or go with the same players who did job for India in lately played match in Mumbai. In order to catch all the action from the finale game of the Test series, more than a few seats are likely to get occupied and this shows people of different age groups are enjoying to watch how things change in the longest format match.

Since 5th Test is to begin after a couple of days, it is for sure that England squad will look forward to ending the series by putting best foot forward and reply India through their game not by any other way. In case, they mark a comeback with a bang, interest will automatically added in ODI and Test series. However, it is completely understood in mind that this is not going to be an easy task. The support for India is going to be huge as fans to pray for the success of home squad. If Indian camp continues its winning streak, it will be clear indication to the teams that are to come on the tour of India that executing plans finely in front of the Men in Blue will ask for more than 100 per cent efforts. Kohli has been rising as a player and captain too, showing faith in abilities of his boys that will help his squad rise in future matches too. Experimenting with different line & length to end up with a number of wickets in the pocket may be observed too by both squads given that objective will be to not let the rivals accumulate so many runs in the end. A lot is to be done from the visiting side if they think of contending rivals in true sense. J Yadav bowled well and played with patience, which made him attain a ton. He showcased his ability as an all-rounder regardless of being only a few matches old. Finding a permanent place in Test Playing XI will definitely be a proud moment for him, lending the team also to taste victories as well.
