The indomitable spirit and the impulse to fight enable Australia to turn the tide outstandingly and create unending challenges for the rivals. They beat India in home conditions in the beginning of this year, pocketing One Day International series 4-1.

However, words of praise are less for the way Indian players performed against the same team in T20 series during their tour to Australia, winning it 3-0. Marking a comeback against Australia is never easy and it is known to the heavyweights. Aussies won the tri-series final at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown in Barbados against West Indies. South Africa were also in good form but couldn’t make into the grand finale. It is not that every time the Australian players tasted victory. When they toured Sri Lanka from July 26 to September 9 to play 5 ODIs, three Tests and a couple of T20s, the hosts were victorious in the longest format. Nonetheless, Australia shone in 50-50 and 20-20 over matches in a way that it became difficult for Sri Lanka to stop the touring side from logging win.

In view of the fact that Pakistan are looking forward gain ground on their tour of Australia where they are scheduled to play three Tests and five One Day International matches, excitement is going at peak. Fans want to see whether foreign condition troubles them or would motivate to put best foot forward. Both substantial runs on the scoreboard and wickets after certain span of time will be needed to make the contest reach into a thrilling phase. If Australia win the toss, they want to make the decision turn right. When they lose it, focus will be to let viewers know it was a good thing that let them do their bit and not fall short of efforts while aiming for victory. Australia tour of South Africa, on the other hand, made them sit for a while and think of the places where improvement was required. It was because of the fact that Proteas enjoyed 5-0 win in five-match ODI series, which held from September 30 to October 12.

South Africa were full of confidence, shifting pressure completely on the guests. Impressive show with bat and ball on the pitch compelled Australia lose the matches at different grounds. Almost same show was visible when Proteas visited Australia recently. They batted first in the opening Test and defeated the hosts by 177 runs. Aussies totalled only 244 runs and 361 runs in response to South Africa’s 242 and 540 runs. Kagiso Rabada’s amazing performance was spectacular in all sense. More to the point, thanks to Kyle Abbott’s good show, South Africa enjoyed win of an innings and 80 runs. But the Aussies bounced back in the third Test, attaining the unimpressive target easily. South Africa failed to perform well, getting 259 runs in 1st and 250 runs in 2nd innings. They definitely looked forward to winning another match but Australia did not let them get successful in their objective, accumulating 383 runs and 127 runs in first and second innings.

Since responsibility was huge on the shoulders of home squad when New Zealand visited Australia lately, each player tried to do their bit. This was reflected in their innings as well since Aussies won 1st, 2nd and 3rd ODIs by 68 runs, 116 runs and 117 runs, respectively. Challenges are going to be massive. All those who will find a place in the team that is to contest against Pakistan will try to make best use of opportunity in the coming weeks and do something remarkable that could keep Australia on winning track. More to the point, it shall not be forgotten that Test cricket is a gentleman’s game. The format being the longest one, it tests players in different regards. If one is able to perform, keep calm, stay focused on what he is supposed to do, he is a perfect fit in the Playing XI, justifying his worth more ways than one.

The two teams are to play ODI matches as well. The series will kick off from January 13 and will finish on January 26. The first ODI will be hosted at Gabba in Brisbane. Moreover, Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne is to organize second ODI, whereas third game is to be played at W.A.C.A. Ground in Perth. Australian captain Steven Smith, David Warner, Peter Handscomb, Jackson Bird, Josh Hazlewood, Usman Khawaja, Nic Maddinson, Nathan Lyon, Matt Renshaw, Chadd Sayers, Mitchell Starc and Matthew Wade would love to see themselves on the winning side once again that will build psychological pressure on the opponents.

Smith’s men would want to add to stress on the traveling squad by claiming wickets at various stages, letting opponents succumb. Whether this happens or not, it will be a key point to notice further.

It is yet probable that a few players may play with their strengths in the series to shine and come on the front foot. With only few days to go for the first match to start, both teams gear up to exhibit best show to keep moving ahead. Viewers are also all set to catch the entertaining action live as a contest between heavyweights is always interesting. It is vital to see skippers of both sides give chance to which players to perform and ask whom to sit and watch it from the bench.
