Capital Experiences Bone-Chilling Cold Regardless of Plenty of Sunshine during Noontime

delhi winterNew Delhi, Monday, December 29 – People residing in the national capital woke up to clear morning on Sunday but sooner thick fog covered the region for a couple of hours. The day was sunlit that made smog to get clear in next to no time, however, extreme frostiness let the masses to stay inside as long as possible in the late hours. People were seen enjoying the sunshine on the roads, balcony and roof of the apartments. Bonfires were lit at several streets to keep body and surrounding areas warm.

If weather reports of Monday are to be cited then dense fog will blanket the city up till afternoon. Visibility is forecasted to be less than 50 meter. Haze continued to be one of the common problems in Delhi and NCR. One has reportedly died due to intolerable iciness in Ghaziabad. The level of difficulty has been increased for homeless, less fortunate and the stray animals. Many people are left with no option but to spend foggy nights under the open sky due to the lack of space in the night shelters.

More than 20 flights were cancelled today due to poor visibility on the runway. Several trains are running late by approximately 30 to 40 hours. Lucknow Shatabdi, Sikkim Mahananda, North East, Kota Express, Jannayak Express, Toofan Express, Shaheed Express, Jammu Tavi Rajdhani, New Delhi-Bengaluru Rajdhani, Lucknow-Bhopal Express, Gomti Express, Bhuvneshwar Rajdhani, Raj Rani express, Brahmaputra Mail etc. are running behind the schedule. Many trains have been cancelled too. Same sort of scenario is probable to be seen in the coming days as well for the reason that Delhi and other states might shiver on lowest temperatures. Rain may lash the capital within a few days time. If precipitation forecasts turn true then mercury will dip further, creating troubles for the populace.

Many schools are yet open but if weather carries on to be chilly, the likelihood of shutting them prior to scheduled time will go up. Educational institutes are expected to declare 10-day winter vacation from January 1. Kids studying in nursery or junior classes are finding it very difficult to cope up with dropping mercury. Weathermen predict fog and rain in the city this week. Commuters are taking precautions while driving and even walking to stay away from any sort of mishaps.
