Hopes Up from Kidambi Srikanth, PV Sindhu at Rio

badminNew Delhi, Tuesday, August 16 – Indians are waiting for the moment when an Indian sportsperson will win a medal in Rio Olympics and motivate others to make best use of the chances to advance further through spellbinding performances.

Srikanth shone brighter each time when Jan Ø. Jørgensen of Denmark tried to gain foothold in a badminton match yesterday. The victory was imperative to qualify in the quarter-finals. The 23-year-old beat his opponent 21-19, 21-19 despite a good show by Jan Ø. Jørgensen. Fans were elated to see Srikanth stretching, jumping and diving to send the shuttlecock in his rival’s court.

Regardless of being stunned by the 28-year-old badminton player from Denmark on more than a few occasions, Srikanth held his nerves and bounced back in style. PV Sindhu also tasted the success after she beat Tai Tzu-ying of Chinese Taipei 21-13 21-15 in pre quarter-finals. She also book a berth in the quarter-finals. Dipa Karmakar though finished fourth in the vault final but received words of appreciation from all around.
